The piece included dance, spoken work, song, homage, music and beautiful colorful costumes that portrayed the family history originated in Belglade (Florida) with its deeper roots from some West-African culture. Lots of laughter, applause and a few tears were shed followed by a wonderful dinner with great family bonding.
The performance was well received by the family and everyone was very touched by the presentation and seeing their family's history unfold in front of them. Some of the comments they shared were the following:
In July of 2012 I had the great pleasure of experiencing a live performance by Liberata Dance Theatre during my family reunion that was hosted in NYC. The performance was special and not just because the movement was well executed, the energy was high and it was professional. The performance was really special for me because it captured and expressed the essence of my family's history and truly inspired me to more fully appreciate my rich ancestry and press forward in the greatness in my blood. Thank you LDT.
